Social care in the pandemic – a sector of heroes

This week we finished working with Valorum Care Group after more than four extraordinary years. Extraordinary is probably the best word to describe our time with the group which provides care to more than 1,000 people in schemes across England. This week we finished working with Valorum Care Group after more than four extraordinary years. Extraordinary is probably the best word to describe our time with the group which provides care to more than 1,000 people in schemes across England. When we took on the work we never thought we’d be supporting them through a global pandemic and all that that brought on the #socialcare sector. We worked alongside the team as they have faced the toughest time in living memory – it has been a privilege and humbling experience to work with such a dedicated team who had to do extraordinary work in extraordinary times. Through all the tough times there were many rays of light shining through, spotlighting the extraordinary things people were doing or had done with their lives. Many faced challenges you couldn’t even imagine, yet they were still doing extraordinary things. One of our highlights was being able to help one resident, a Paralympian gold medalist whose Olympic dream never quite lived up to expectations. Janice didn’t receive the podium finish she had wanted, but 37 years later her dream came true. Watch the video to see what happened. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-dorset-58718419
